After seeing posts about Loco Pocos on the feed, Misa picked up a new avatar at Loco Pocos Island tonight. In fact she got the Mega FunPack which gave her all the avatars and all the accessories =)

Each avatar comes with a HUD that allows you to quickly and easily change attributes - like fur, eye and nose color. Wearing other Loco Pocos items loads them into the HUD allowing you to change their attributes also (for example: hair, hat, shirt, and skirt colors).
It's a pretty impressive avatar and reasonably priced. Individually they are 350L$, and accessories (clothing, hats, etc.) are 100L$ each. There aren't a lot of clothing options yet (I believe only 2 shirts and 3 skirts for women), but the HUD color changing creates a nice variety. It looks like more options will be available in the near future (there were plenty of "coming soon" signs).
The Loco Pocos: Mega All For Girls 1.0 is L$2,500 and comes with 5 avatars, 4 pairs of shoes, 4 types of hair, 3 skirts, 2 shirts, and a bunch of other fun stuff like hats, glasses, wings, etc. There is also a Mega pack for men, too.

Ring Flash

Gaynor Gritzi has a very cool ring flash for photographers. I've only barely scratched the surface of what it can do, but already I can see two ways it can make lighting a shot easier.

The first is that I have a photo studio with three light balls that I manually move closer or farther away as needed. This isn't a lot of work, honestly, but it is a pain when I have a shot set up and then have to zoom my camera back and try to get the lights in the right spots. The Ring Flash HUD makes changing intensity, radius, falloff, and RGB values so much simpler and quicker than moving around the light balls.

The second is when I am out and about and am trying to take photos in a place where I really don't want to (or maybe can't because of permissions) pull out my own light balls. This ring flash just attaches to your head like a face light and makes the process much easier.

So to test this out in the field Uhi and I went to the WWF island.

HUD with default settings.

Playing around with environment settings set to midnight.

The ring flash on "show" so you can see the different lights. When you set the ring flash to "hide" you can't see the lightbulbs.

The only thing I can think of to make it better is having an easier way to go from one extreme to another (like going from 100% to 0%) on the settings, but I've never seen a better interface option on any other HUD (like a slider or input) so it probably isn't even possible to try a different approach.

This is a really great gadget and I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it!

I visited the show "Sex and the Virtual Landscape: Homage to Helmut Newton" by Paolo Bade at Avatrait Gallery. The show setup is very interesting - as you walk near walls images are projected and/or walls fade away to show how the photo was set up. There are even poseballs so you can recreate the shots yourself. If you wear the HUD you will hear audio or see text that describes more about each photo shoot.

ETD Sale

One of my absolute favorite stores, ETD, is having a huge sale. So big I had problems actually getting to the store because the sim was full. It took forever. Okay, only about 2 hours. But that is close enough to forever. The wait was well worth it though; to get hair as gorgeous as ETD's for as low as 25L is amazing.

Essentially - the savings are fantastic, the hair fabulous and I wish I had more Linden. You can read more about the sale particulars at the ETD blog.

SL crashed on me after I had only bought one thing, but luckily the sale is on until January 26th so I will have time to go back.

Endicott: Combat zone and great shops

I visited Endicott to see some of the great stores and to explore the "Combat Zone". I stepped on the glowing spot that rezzed the zombies but since I didn't have any weapons on me I didn't actually fight any of them (just walked away... they were kinda slow).

In case you are curious about the awesome freebie outfit:

Sweater: Sweater, Cropped Wrap: Black Jacket with prim sleeves (from PixelDolls) 0L. This is from "Folder O Free Stuff" and it is adorable.
Tank top: Olive Tank Top (by PopFuzz) 0L. I love this color.
Pants: Zyrraphotic Black Jeans (from Zyrraphotic at FashionAvenue) 0L. You can find it in the center of Fashion Avenue's orientation plaza.
Shoes: Valentinas Pointed Blacks (from The Little Shoe Shop) 0L. These are free on the second floor.
Socks: Tintable Barefoot Socks (from Robin Wood)0L. These freebies are great for fixing the weirdness that happens between your shoes and your pants (where it looks like your legs balloon up inside the pant legs).
Hair: Babycakes (by Tami McCoy)
Free for new residents (voucher, otherwise it is 199L).
Snow Shoes: Chapeau Tres Mignon
Nice snow shoes free with scripted animation. The store is just a couple doors down from Fashion Victim's HQ.

Behind Fashion Victim's HQ is a dumpster with free stuff. I only harvested once so I'm not sure what else is in there but I got a back dragon tattoo.

I'm not sure how I got this preview version - it might have been a group gift. It is absolutely fabulous. You can get the full outfit at PixelDolls for 300L, or as separates (tops - 200L, bottoms - 100L)

Schadenfreude at La Reina
I took these snapshots outside the shop of one of my favorite designers - Allegory Malaprop's Schadenfreude. I have tons of pictures of Mira Nadezda and I covered in treats from the Schadenfreude gift stockings at Christmas (see previous post).

It's way after the holiday now but oh well, they are good snapshots.

The last snapshot is after the coal fight - there was coal everywhere! The antlers, candy, toys, etc are almost all from the gift stockings that were free from Schadenfreude during the holidays. The crazy red outfit was a freebie called Zealot of Yuletide (from Demons and Angels).
